Resources

This is a curated reading list — the journals, textbooks, guidelines and tools we lean on in everyday neonatal practice and teaching. It is not exhaustive. Everything here is linked back to its source: publisher pages, organisation hubs, or DOI landing pages. Nothing is hosted on this site. The list is reviewed periodically; if something here has gone stale, please let us know.

Oxygenation Index

Use ventilator settings at the time of the arterial sample.

Enter 21–100%. For FiO₂ 0.60, enter 60.

Use arterial PaO₂, not SpO₂ or a venous value.

Your result

—

Oxygenation Index / OI

Enter all three values, then calculate.

OI = (FiO₂% × MAP) / PaO₂

Equivalent to (FiO₂ fraction × MAP × 100) / PaO₂.

OI is one measure of neonatal hypoxic respiratory failure severity. Interpret it with the clinical picture and trends, not in isolation.

For education and clinical support. Clinical judgment and local protocols prevail. Values are calculated in your browser and are not stored or sent. Formula reference.
